Member of IUSSP, International Society for Urban Health (ISUH). Founder member of APA and was President of IASP, Vice President of  IASSH,  Executive Board Member of ISUH, Member of Expert Group on HRG Estimation for NACP -III Planning, Member of Working Group on NUHM, and Member, Advisory Board- Byrraju Foundation 

Author of 9 edited books and 120 papers in CSR, Demography, Gender, Development, Research Ethics, Health, Family Welfare and HIV / AIDS, published in National Journals, edited books and presented at National and International Conferences / Seminars. Participated in the 34th Summer Seminar of the East West Center, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA during May 29-June 28, 2003. Participated in the APN Training workshop on ‘Advanced Demographic Techniques’ held at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, during September-October, 2004. Participated in the Short Term Course on Population Ageing and Its Implications, held at International Institute on Ageing, INIA, Malta and UN during November 2005
